$OMNI Token Launch

$OMNI Token Launch

After years of hard work, it is finally time for the $OMNI token launch. Claims for the $OMNI Genesis airdrop will begin on April 17 at 11:00 UTC on the claims portal. This milestone represents a critical first step towards decentralization for the Omni Network. For more information on the roles that $OMNI fulfills within the Omni protocol, please read this post.

Genesis Staking Program

When claiming $OMNI Genesis rewards, users will have the opportunity to stake their $OMNI to help bootstrap the network’s security and qualify for future rewards. Genesis stakers will earn 6% APY and be eligible to receive partner protocol airdrop distributions that are sent to the Omni Foundation.

Users can claim and stake their $OMNI tokens in the same transaction using the “Claim and Stake” button on the claims portal according to the following steps:

  1. After qualifying for $OMNI rewards, press the “Claim and Stake” button in the top right corner of the portal.
  1. Confirm the transaction popup. The total fee includes gas plus a fee to the Omni Foundation’s airdrop partner, Clique.
  1. After the transaction is confirmed, users can see their staked $OMNI balance by exiting the claims window and clicking into the “Stake” portal.

Users that choose to claim their $OMNI rewards without staking immediately can stake at a later time through the “Stake” portal.

At launch, both methods of staking require the user to stake their entire $OMNI wallet balance. Support for partial staking will be implemented soon. Unstaking is subject to a 14 day unbonding period. After the unbonding period is over, users will be able to use the “Withdraw” function to transfer their $OMNI back to their wallet. Addresses that stake until the end of the Genesis staking period will be able to claim their rewards from the Genesis staking program. The Genesis staking program is expected to run for 1-3 months, but this schedule is subject to change.

Updates to Genesis Airdrop Categories

Since announcing the $OMNI Genesis airdrop, there have been a few expansions to the existing allocation categories.

  • As explained in the original Genesis airdrop announcement, we conducted a second sybil check for Testnet User addresses and split the remaining Testnet User rewards between addresses that passed the first sybil check and addresses that passed the second sybil check. Addresses with fewer than 3 Galxe OATs from the Omni Origins and Omni Overdrive testnets were not considered.
  • The NFTX and Arcade teams helped expand support for Milady, Remilio, and Pudgy Penguin NFTs that were being used in their protocols as of the snapshot date.
  • The EigenLayer Restaker category was expanded from 10,000 addresses to include the top 15,000 addresses by total restaked points. The Omni Foundation identified the top restaked points addresses that deposited directly into EigenLayer and through liquid restaking protocols to determine these top 15,000 addresses.
  • Finally, we modified the claims method for Beacon Chain solo stakers. Originally, only the first 5,000 eligible addresses that claimed would receive 60 $OMNI each for this category. To reward a wider set of users, the Omni Foundation decided to whitelist the entire set of users identified by Rated Network as solo stakers. All eligible addresses will be able to claim 60 $OMNI – the first-come-first-served functionality has been removed. This change increases the number of eligible wallets for the category to 7,871 and increases the total allocation for the category to 472,260 $OMNI. This increase will not reduce the allocation to any other Genesis airdrop category. Instead, this increase will reduce the amount allocated to public launch pools and liquidity within the Public Launch category. As a result of this decision, the final total allocation for the Genesis airdrop will be 3,172,260 $OMNI (3.17% of total supply).

Omni will continue to build Ethereum’s integrated rollup layer alongside its loyal community. Follow the Omni Foundation on Twitter and join the Discord to stay up to date with the latest Omni events.

The Genesis airdrop is not available to users in the United States, Canada, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Iraq, Lesotho, Libya, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, North Macedonia, Qatar, Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Tunisia,  Iran, Syria, Cuba, North Korea, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
